Christmas may be three weeks away, but there will be heap of respite intent in Brenham and Burton beginning Friday. And there’s even a 100 percent turn of snow in downtown Brenham Friday, voice of the city’s annual Christmas Stroll Home for the Holidays. Stroll hours are 5-10 p.m. Friday. Saturday’s activities begin at 10 a.m. and will be culminated by the "Night of Lights" Christmas vaunt sponsored by Bluebonnet Electric.

The usual lighting of a Christmas tree on the courthouse sward will be held Friday at 5:30 p.m., staged by Girl Scout troops 1413 and 339.



Troop 1413 will also be collecting canned goods for Goodfellows of Washington County, and Troop 339 will be collecting toys and games for Adams Angels. Entertainment will be featured throughout the eventide Friday and throughout the period Saturday on several venues downtown. Also, more than 50 businesses in the downtown acreage will be open. "We have presentation at several locations throughout Frirday tenebrousness and Saturday - a unimaginative something for everyone," said Eckermann. "It should be a lot of fun.



" Carriage rides will also be on tap Friday, and a Dickens dress contend will be staged (signups begin at 6:15 p.m. on the station next to Must Be Heaven, with winners announced at 8 p.m.). Christmas at the Farmer’s Market returns this year from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday, with treats, handmade crafts and German entertainment.



The "Night of Lights" display begins at 6 p.m. Saturday, a light-filled, antiquated fashioned wave around the downtown streets, capped off with a idiosyncratic air from Santa. This year’s air has more than 50 entries, Eckermann said.
