On June 28, Miss Douglas County Katie Layman was crowned Miss Colorado. When Layman was attending Rangeview High School in Aurora, a psyche bulge required her to put in writing down 100 goals, and one of her head 10 goals was to become Miss Colorado. "I provide for the itemize and glance back on it at times," Layman said.
Her goals ranged from academic, traveling and watching standard movies, such as "Gone with the Wind." She plans to foremost in photography at the University of Colorado, with a bush-league in psychology. To organize for Miss Colorado, Layman conducted imitate interviews with a coach, brushed up on trend conclusion probe and practiced her talent, dance. "I watched a lot of CNN, be familiar with newspapers and headlines on the Internet," Layman said. A condition for the Miss Colorado persistence was to think up a platform, something the girls were earnest about.
"Lunch with Sienna is my platform," Layman said. "It is an awareness for children with G-Tubes in their tummies." She helped base a grassy home to flourish robust sustenance for the lunches, and teaches the children how to forge an awareness for eating a nutritive diet.
Layman innards as a nanny for a latest Denver Broncos cheerleader she met while cheering herself for the smutty and orange. She also teaches prom and choreography at Rangeview High School as the underling carriage for the shindig team. Although Layman was crowned Miss Douglas County, and she lives in Aurora, Layman said at this opportunity Colorado does not insist the girls competing to combustible in the county or city.
As Layman stood on the stage-manage at the Miss Colorado pageant, she remembers holding hands with the other scale five contestants. She has worked with squeeze scouts in Parker, and helped equal a pourboire birthday card execution to Children's Hospital patients. "We made over 750 cards for the hospital," Weaver said. "They were blown away.
" The biggest incongruity between the Miss Colorado pageant, with the next move being Miss America, is that the Miss America Organization is a know-how pageant. "The Miss USA event is owned by Donald Trump and it is just a knockout formality and a literary behoof making organization," said Suzi Doland, leader commandant for Miss Colorado. "The Miss America design makes to hand over $45 million in college lore notes to innocent women across America." Miss Lone Tree, Elaine Kazutomi ,and her alike sister Emily, who is Miss Aurora, both performed a singing talent, and although they did not point in the Miss Colorado pageant, Doland said they are both rare girls and astonishing vocalist.
Both Layman and Weaver will be active preparing for their next competitions by staying fit, practicing interviewing techniques and of progression consumers appearances. "I want to get labyrinthine with the community in any advance I can," Layman said.
