On Jan. 23, the Douglas County Educational Foundation (DCEF) in conjunction with Douglas County School District hosted the 4th Annual Douglas County Girls and Women in Sports Luncheon. The event, held at Chaparral High School in Parker, honored more than 100 DCSD student-athletes who have had a dogmatic alter on others, while excelling in sports participation. Female athletes from District stomach and towering schools were nominated by administrators and coaches from their shire schools for accomplishments both on and off the field.
Coaches and DCSD alumni were also honored for their one-time accomplishments. Marcia Neville, High School Sports Reporter for Fox 31 emcee’d the luncheon. The keynote spieler was Diane Van Deren, Sedalia residing and drift ultra-distance runner. The ma of three is a quondam pro tennis participant and State stiff college championship alluring golf, tennis and basketball player.
Most recently, she won the 2008 Yukon Arctic Ultra, covering 350 miles while pulling a 40-pound sled in 50-degrees-below-zero temperatures. The tear is considered by many to be the world’s toughest footrace. She is vigorous with many Colorado groups and as a spokesperson, prance bandleader and inspirational keynote tub-thumper nationwide.
