2011. Groundhog Day 2011: Groundhog Day with Malverne Mel Read.




Groundhog Day is on Wednesday and you don’t have to rotation on the despatch to view out just how close–or far away–spring is. Enter: Malverne Mel. That’s right. Long Island has it’s very own climate predicting groundhog and he lives in Malverne. notice Mel is Long Island’s to begin furry prognosticator and he will crop up again on Feb. 2 to give us the actual news, or the conscience-stricken news.

State and townsperson authority dignitaries will don their greatest hats while Mayor Patricia McDonald will abet Mel to check out his cozy hutch and carry from "ground-hog-ese", Mel’s bear up against forecast.  And God, we wait it’s a virtue one.






We also fancy Mel can get out of the territory and through the three feet of snow to have us. Following the ceremony, set alight refreshments will be served at the Malverne Historical House which is walking detach from Mel’s hutch. Join your favorite team:  "Team Early Spring" or "Team 6 More Weeks of Winter" at this fun-filled affair and be undeviating to engender your camera and grab photos with Mel’s people-sized buddy who will be frolicking through the snow.
